CMS reports that over 50% of providers reporting via Claims failed during 2011 reporting period

  • 'PQRS - CLAIMS reporting' by Medicare providers was the most common PQRS reporting method in 2011.

  • More providers fail than succeed: The 2011 CMS failure rate for registry reporting was over 50%

See Figure 12 below from 2012 Reporting Experience Including Trends (2007-2013) Physician Quality Reporting System - March 14, 2014)

  • 'PQRS - CLAIMS reporting' has reduced significantly during subsequent reporting years due to the accelerating failure rate of 'PQRS - CLAIMS reporting'

  • 'PQRS - CLAIMS reporting'  for the 2014 reporting period has more restrictions.
This will accelerate 2014 failure rate for 'PQRS - CLAIMS reporting'
    '

  • Due to excessive failure rate, Medicare providers are investigating more reliable reporting methods such as the QCDR
